Letters from Lieut. Thomas F. Darby, 29th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment, U.S. Army, to Ellen Maria Connolly and Mary Ann Connolly, of Lynn Mass., detailing camp life while stationed in Hustonville and Somerset, Ky., Milldale, Miss., and Camp Butler, Fair Oaks, Falmouth, Fredericksburg, and Hampton, Va. Darby comments on holidays and social activities in camp as compared to those at home, and makes references to the activities of Irish troops and to their reputation as fierce fighters.
